You’ve talked about how to detect the difficulties of learning is that in schools is common to find students who have learning disabilities, showing difficulties in acquiring knowledge. For this reason, they need more individualized attention to be able to face these obstacles and thus be able to achieve the academic goals according to their age. But it is not only the duty of the school to help these students to advance, it is also the duty of parents to help their children with difficulties so that they feel protected and understood, and therefore feel more motivated to face it. That is why from we want to guide you to how to help my child with learning difficulties.
Steps to follow:
- Stay informed of all the progress your child is making in school. Find out about those subjects that goes better and in which ones fails more. Ask your tutor for his notes to keep a record.
- Talk to your child about school and have him explain how he feels and which subjects he likes best and which ones least and why.
- Give your child confidence so that he knows that you are by his side throughout his learning process with better or worse grades. But that their effort is the most important thing because whoever makes an effort will be rewarded.
- Build on your strengths and discover what your best learning method is. Talk to a psych pedagogue for guidance if necessary.
- Spend time at home helping him do the tasks that are most difficult for him. In the ones he dominates best, allow him autonomy so that he knows that he is capable of doing things by himself. As soon as you see that the activity begins to dominate, withdraw your help little by little.
- The time to do your homework should be structured, organized and without stimulation that can disturb your concentration. You should feel calm.
- Don’t demand more of him than he can give. Until you understand what you are doing, don’t move on to the next exercise.
- Take breaks from your duties if appropriate, but strictly adhere to the scheduled times. If it’s an hour of homework and 10 minutes of rest, so be it, but not 30 minutes of homework and 30 minutes of rest because then you will not see the effort and you will want to spend as little time as possible doing the activity.
- Just because your child has learning difficulties does not mean that you should give him the answers to homework. Help him find the answer, but never give it to him because then he will not know how to value the effort and the importance of thinking for himself.
- If you decide to hire a school support person to give private lessons to your child at home, it is fine because it will reinforce their learning, but that does not exempt you from the responsibility you have with your child, because you will give them confidence what do you need.
- Values learning as essential as it is. That your child understands the importance of knowing. Machine learning is not good for good learning.
